You recall looking at the mess for more than a month. Every…single…day…you pass by it and moan with regret, but not enough to do anything about it today…maybe tomorrow… or the next day…quite possibly the weekend. You tell yourself that you don’t have time to finish it today, so there’s no use in starting. You’re just not feeling it. I’ll bet, if you found out that company was coming, you’d have it cleaned in a couple of hours at least. Then again, you may just close the door to that room! Think about it. The project that could have been finished in an hour or two, possibly a day, has…

Losing Weight
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doeth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1 You know the drill…You’ve been dieting for several days and you want to weigh in to see how your struggle has paid off. You know if you haven’t lost at least a pound, you’re gonna go eat at least three chocolate covered doughnuts, a bag of barbecue chips, and raid last night’s steakhouse leftovers – not the salad part. Anyways, those deliciously evil things cried out…

Reaching Victory
Coming from a private school to a public setting was initially a culture shock for me to say the least. But, I was still young, new to teaching, full of spunk, and had dreams of changing the world! Then, I was given a classroom of kids who, for the most part, were neglected, abused, or shockingly poor. Their lifestyles and appreciation for education were vastly different from what I had previously witnessed. I had to ask myself, “Do these kids even have a chance in life?” “Yes, yes they do,” I quickly decided. That year, I had the privilege to teach a special young lady. I’ll never forget her angelic…

A True Love Story
It seemed as if she had known him all of her life, even though they just became friends when she was twelve years old. A friend had introduced her to him and she had fallen deeply in love with him…or so she thought. She was quick to tell everyone about her new guy! They were inseparable. She now giggles that she definitely would not have survived the chaos of high school without him. As the years passed, he proved his love and devotion to her over and over. Many times she had called upon him to pray for her. He was her strength and she knew it. He shared his…

In Coming Warning!
I distinctly remember my mother’s warning, “If you don’t stop that, I’m gonna wear you out! Do you hear me?” How many times have we been watching a movie and heard the sound of intense clicking. We knew right away, as the author intended, what was about to happen. Our hearts raced as our eyes were directed to the ticking bomb. We anxiously sat on the edge of our seats until the main character successfully dismantled the device. Thus, he saved the people without a moment to spare because he had given attention to the warning! How many times have we hobbled into a doctor’s office with a pain in…

America’s Children
They Feel So Alone For as long as I can remember, children have intrigued me, inspired me, and brought my heart unmeasurable joy. I can remember being a child myself and dreaming of having a house full of children one day. Not only that, I wanted grandchildren…lots and lots of them! After my fourth child was born, I knew she would be the last child because of my health problems. It wasn’t long after that I had a strong desire to be a foster parent. Unfortunately, my husband didn’t agree with this decision. My head got it. He was tired because being responsible for the physical, mental, spiritual, and financial…

The Cardinal Lesson
The Messenger It was an unusually early morning for me as I let Natalie, my black toy poodle, out into the fresh crisp air. She pranced joyfully into the frost covered grass. Suddenly, I spotted a cardinal like I had never seen before. It’s color was so vivid that the cardinal seemed to be illuminated. Normally, I would have immediately ran to grab my camera. However, I didn’t want to risk the chance of missing the sight of this beautiful breathtaking creature, not even for one moment! I finally realized the bird was hanging around much longer than I expected. So, I decided to chance a quick sprint inside to…

Left Behind
Be the Light that Leads the Way to Freedom! Oskar Schindler is well known for his bravery, tenacity, and dedication because he was willing to lose all of his wealth and risk his own life in order to help roughly 1,200 Jews escape certain death in German concentration camps. Today, he and his wife Emilie, are buried in Jerusalem on Mount Zion. They were named Righteous Among the Nations by the Israeli government in 1993. Harriet Tubman was born into slavery. She was beaten, mentally abused, and acquired a life-long head injury from one of her various masters. Yet, Tubman began to receive premonitions from God which led her to…

Education Is Vital
After Covid-19 hit, every student was quickly given a Chromebook, a password, and a set of written directions. The students had an extremely short period of time to learn how to work their new Chrome books. To their bewilderment, quite a few students lived beyond the point of internet service. This required the students to work out of a packet and hand in work pages weekly. Teachers were directed to take attendance, upload daily lessons, and have daily live classes. Unfortunately, they received a minimal prior explanation on how to create lessons online or how to present live lessons. Students and teachers were doing a whole lot of self-teaching. Needless…

New Year – Old Ways?
Over the Christmas Holiday, I was “in Heaven” as our family all gathered at my house to celebrate. The grandchildren were, of course, the life of the party. After all of the gifts were opened, the festivities moved outside. My two older sons took pride in taking their four-year-old nephew, Jonah’s prized remote controlled Monster Truck and running around the house with it. A chase most certainly commenced and Jonah’s wails of bewilderment followed. Gigi, no doubt, came to the rescue! “You boys leave that baby alone! Give his truck back right now!” Meanwhile, my one-year-old grandson, Carson, had just plotted an ascent up his own personal Mt. Everest. (It…
