Can You Get A Prayer Through?

In today’s world, we cannot get on social media without reading requests for urgent prayer.  People’s lives depend upon prayer; it’s serious!  Yet, many people don’t feel like they can get a prayer through or at least they wonder if it is actually possible.

In a time when most of society thinks they can have their own truth and demand one of the many gods to obey their commands, people are at a loss for real communication with the one true God that has purposefully designed the only real truth!  In short, many people can’t actually get a prayer through!

According to God’s Word, there are certain terms for prayers to be answered.  Below, I will list several conditions that I have uncovered for prayers being answered.

We must be a Christian to pray.  John 9:31  Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshiper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.  Think about it this way.  How can you pray to someone you don’t believe in or have access to in your heart?  The only sinner’s prayer that is heard is one for salvation.

We cannot have sin in our life.  Psalm 66:18  If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. (laziness, self-pity, adultery, stealing, killing,  selfishness, bitterness, wrath, malice, evil speaking, etc.)  We all know what sin is.

God will not answer if we pray for something that is outside of his will.  James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.  If we ask for something that is not in God’s will, we have to know it is not in our best interest.  We know it’s his will, if it agrees with the Bible.

We must have faith that God will do what we ask.  Mark 11:24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.  This means we must be willing to give it to God and say, “God, I trust you.”

We must not pray to be seen and heard.  Matthew 6:5  And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.  Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

We must not be prideful.  Psalm 138:6  Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly; but the proud he knoweth afar off.  In other words, we can’t use God and claim the power as our own.

We must not be impatient.  Hebrews 6:12  That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.  Impatience shows a lack of faith in God’s timing.

We must make things right with others first.  Matthew 23-24  Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberst that thy brother hath ought against thee;  Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

We must not use vain repetitions.  Matthew 6:7  But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.  Kids today think if they ask enough times that they will wear their parents out and they will give in.  Note to us:  We can’t wear God out!

We must take the necessary action in what we pray for.  James 2:18  Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:  shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith with my works.  A child may ask for one hundred dollars, but doesn’t want it bad enough to work for it.  God expects us to work toward what we are asking him for.

We must be thankful.  Philippians 4:6  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  Thank you’s are powerful things that show our appreciation for the work God is doing in our lives.

Now, think about those prayer requests on the internet once more.  According to God’s Word, how many of the prayers are getting through the ceiling?  If we truly believe God’s word and in his willingness to answer his children, we will make sure that we can get a prayer through every minute of our lives!

Folks, we serve an almighty God who is worthy to be praised, worshiped, trusted, adored, and placed in the center of our lives!

I pray you have many powerful prayers to come!
